1/24 & 1/25/22

It was so awesome to be dry camping in the desert and unwind, that we didnt do a thing. We just visited with friends, hung out and chillaxed. We needed it and loved every minute of it!!

Today we hung out as well, anxiously awaiting Jeff and Steff. We met them in Moab in October and really hit it off, but didnt have much time to visit then, so this was a great opportunity to hang out with them. What fun couple and look forward to lots more adventures with them!! It was their first time boondocking and first time in Quartzsite, so it was fun to show them how fun it is! We had a great time visiting and hanging out at the fire with the group!

Today we finally went and checked out the RV show. We went with Jeff and Steff and took Mr. Rylee so we didnt have to worry about him needing to potty. He did great. We really didnt buy much, but we had a great time! The fry bread was excellent and rian got a new hat. Went back to camp and had some munchies, visited and hung out at the fire for a bit.

Today we went to Parker Dam and Roadrunner Floating Grill with Jeff and Steff and Jeanette and Mike. It was a fun day. We saw burros on the way to the dam (California side of the Colorado River), took some pics at the dam and enjoyed the beautiful drive, beautiful water and great friends. The weather was awesome!! We learned from Steff that Parker Dam is the deepest dam in the world!! Had no idea!! Only a quarter of it is visible. After the dam we went to Roadrunner grill and had a delicious lunch. Great day!!

Ed and Robin arrived about 9:00 tonight, so we went over, had a drink and got caught up. So great to see them again! We met them in AZ last year and were fortunate enough to spend time with them in Mexico as well. Wonderful people who we rely enjoy spending time with and hope to meet up with more on the road on e they retire.

Today we went with Jeff and Steff to check out some Roadside oddities in Quartzsite from the Roadside America app.

We started with the Veterans memorial. They had a couple RF4Cs displayed. Very cool.

We then went to Celias Garden. It is a memorial rock garden in Quartzsite that was originally dedicated by Celias father when she passed at the age of 8. The garden has grown immensly over the years and continues to be a memorial for many of the peoe from Quartzsite.

We then went to the Hi Jolly cemetery to see the Hi Jolly monument. The name Hi Jolly came from locals because people couldnt pronounce his name. He was hired in 1857 as a camel herder for the Camel Corps (really a thing!) to transport things across the desert. The Camel Corps ended with the Civil War and Hi Jolly stayed in Quartzsite and tried his hand in mining and such. Very interesting!

Finished off the fun adventure with an ice cream cone at Dorothy and Totos and of course had to buy a bag of fresh kettle corn for the road.

Got back to the campsite and all visited and then moved over to the evening campfire.

1/30/22 Sadly Jeff and Steff and Ed and Robin all left today, but as with all our RV friends, we have learned that saying bye, always meens see ya later!! Steff and Jeff left early, but we will fortunately have a few more days with them in Yuma. We did go back to the tent for a bit with Ed and Robin and hung out a bit before they left around 5. It was a fun day witht the exception of them all leaving!! So grateful for all the wonderful friends we have met on this journey!!

Packed up and headed for Yuma about noon. Most of the group left at 10, and it looked like a ghost town. Nice drive and only about 80 miles, so easy drive day.
